If your strips are expensive then try shifting to a cheap meter with cheap strips. All monitor do equal job so in that is no need to hold a high priced monitor. Also try checking Ebay for strips. I would also contact your local robustness and human welfare office for your county to see if they enjoy any assistance programs out there.

Try e-bay. Like you, I'm short insurance for the moment. I use an Accu Chek compact and I recently bought 18 boxes of interview strips for my meter on e-bay for $300. It was a negotiate...considering ONE box costs about $53. I get the strips and I'm happy.
