This isn't anything new. Occasionally at hand are isolated outbreaks. Its been within the news just now with human being implicated in some fast-food restaurant outbreaks. Once contracted though it can be virulent if not treated without delay, especially in young-looking children or the elderly.
it's been around awhile - and cause some deaths.. it cause SEVERE intestinal problems and bleeding.
